Secretary of Administration Sharon Minnich Tuesday announced details of a one-year labor agreement ratified by members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 13 and the United Food and Commercial Workers.
“These are fair agreements. They are fair to employees and fair to taxpayers,” said Secretary Minnich. “The agreements also provide certainty in the area of personnel costs as we enter into budget negotiations for the coming fiscal year.”
Key provisions of the contracts include:
— No general pay increase for employees during the contract;
— No change to employer contributions to health care;
— No change to employee contributions towards their health care
— A step increase for employees with at least one year of continuous service as of January 2016.
“I would also like to thank AFSCME Council 13 Executive Director Dave Fillman and UFCW President Wendell Young for their leadership and working with the administration to achieve responsible contracts that allows us to focus on our top three priorities: schools that teach, jobs that pay and government that works.”
Negotiations with other unions whose contracts expire on June 30th are continuing.
