The House Rules Committee late Tuesday night amended House Bill 278 (Baker-R-Tioga) by taking out provisions relating to the Bank Shares Tax (which helped balance the budget), City Revitalization, extra funding for the Allentown school district and Improvement Zones and the Philly cigarette tax and reported it to the House Floor. The plan is to take it up today.
Assuming the House successfully passes the amended bill, the Senate will be forced to return to Harrisburg to consider whether to concur in the House changes.
Last year, the Fiscal Code bill was not sent to the Governor’s desk until July 18.
