Gov. Tom Corbett Monday announced Kevin Harley, his director of communications, will be leaving the administration to become a partner in Quantum Communications, a Harrisburg-based public relations firm.
Harley has been the governor’s press secretary and director of communications since the beginning of the Corbett administration.
Harley has a long association with Corbett. He worked for Corbett in 1995-96 when Corbett first served as attorney general. He was Corbett’s campaign press secretary in his successful 2004 run for attorney general and then went on to serve as his director of communications in the attorney general’s office for six years. He was also Corbett’s director of communications for his successful campaign for governor and held the same position for Corbett’s gubernatorial transition team.
Harley oversaw the communications staff in each of the state agencies under the governor’s jurisdiction and also was Corbett’s chief spokesman.
“Kevin has been one of my closest and trusted advisors for many years. I value his counsel and friendship. I look forward to continuing to work with him in a new role,” Corbett said.
“It has been a privilege to work for the governor and people of the commonwealth. Gov. Corbett is a man with unquestioned integrity and loyalty. I’m excited about continuing to help him in my new role,” Harley said
In his new position, Harley will be working alongside longtime Harrisburg strategist and commentator Charlie Gerow. Harley will begin his new role after Labor Day.
A new director of communications and press secretary will be named in the near future.
