Secretary of Education Pedro A. Rivera Friday announced the appointment of Jonathan Peri as Chair of the State Board of Education’s Council of Higher Education. Peri, the President of Manor College in Jenkintown, has served on the board since 2010.
“Mr. Peri has a long history in education and has dedicated himself to many charitable endeavors over the years,” said Secretary Rivera. “His experience and knowledge will help guide both the council and the board as they shape higher education in Pennsylvania to help students get the knowledge and skills for jobs in the 21st century economy.”
In addition to his service on the State Board, Peri is a member of the state’s Charter School Appeal Board, the Pennsylvania State Tuition Account Programs (529) Advisory Board, the Ray Custer Scholarship Fund Committee, and the Widener University School of Law Alumni Board.
"Gov. Wolf and Secretary Rivera have been working hard to ensure that Pennsylvania's students are provided the keys for learning. As such, their support for academic success is felt at Manor College and institutions across the Commonwealth," said Peri. "So it's a pleasure to serve when the leaders around you are authentic."
Peri graduated from Villanova University and Widener University – Delaware Law School, and recently completed the Organizational Leadership doctoral program at Eastern University.
Peri served as the Vice President and General Counsel at Neumann University for ten years, was an assistant professor at Neumann, and developed and taught courses at Eastern University.
