The Public School Employees’ Retirement System Board of Trustees met Tuesday and offered the position of Executive Director to Rep. Glen R. Grell (R-Cumberland) effective May 1, 2015.
The position is contingent upon successful completion of all necessary approvals and background and reference checks.
“I am grateful to the Board for selecting me among many capable candidates to lead PSERS at this challenging time,” Rep. Grell said. “While I will miss representing the residents of the 87th Legislative District in the General Assembly, I believe my experience in public pension policy issues will be of great value as I work with the Board of Trustees and the men and women who make up PSERS.”
Rep. Grell was first elected a member of the House in 2004 representing the residents of eastern Cumberland County. He has served as a member of the Judiciary, Insurance, Consumer Affairs, State Government, Health, Gaming Oversight and Appropriations Committees.
For approximately 5 years Rep. Grell has served as Chairman of the South Central (Republican) caucus. He also served on PSERS Board of Trustees from 2009 to January 2015.
Prior to being elected to the House, he served as Deputy General Counsel to Gov. Tom Ridge and also worked in private practice with several local law firms.
Rep.Grell has a B.A. in Political Science from The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD and a J.D. from The Dickinson School of Law, Carlisle, PA.
