Sen. Alloway Now Chair Of Senate Law & Justice Committee

Sen. Richard Alloway (R-Franklin) is the new Chairman of the Senate's Law and Justice Committee for the remainder of this legislative session, following the retirement of Sen. John Pippy (R-Allegheny).
The Senate's Law and Justice Committee oversees the Pa. State Police and statewide liquor issues.
"I wish Sen. Pippy well in his retirement, and future endeavors," says Senator Alloway, who previously served as vice-chairman of the committee. "I want to thank President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati for putting his trust in me to serve as chair."
Pippy resigned June 30 from the Senate, after the state budget was signed by Gov. Tom Corbett. Scarnati notes that Alloway has served as vice-chairman of the committee since taking office in 2009.
"He will do an outstanding job continuing to manage the many liquor-related issues pending in the General Assembly," says Sen. Scarnati.
Sen. lloway, a former district magistrate, looks forward to the new challenge.
"The committee gets a lot of attention because you oversee the State Police budget, and the state's liquor system. We'll continue to look at these complex issues that affect our Commonwealth," says Sen. Alloway.
Sen. Alloway is in the fourth year of his first term representing the 33rd district, which includes Adams, Franklin and a portion York County in the Senate. He also chairs the Senate Game and Fisheries Committee.
