Supreme Court: Republican incumbent Justice Sallie Mundy, who was appointed last year, was the lone candidate in the 5-2 Democratic majority Court. Democrats nominated Judge Dwayne Woodruff, an ex-Pittsburgh Steeler, who was alone on the ballot for Democrats
Superior Court: Republicans picked Blair County Judge Wade Kagarise, Lancaster County District Attorney Craig Stedman, Northampton County Judge Emil Giordano and Mary Murray, a district judge in Allegheny County. Democrats picked Philadelphia judges Carolyn Nichols and Maria McLaughlin, Beaver County Judge Deborah Anne Kunselman and Superior Court Judge Geoff Moulton.
Commonwealth Court: Republicans had only 2 candidates for the 2 open seats— Delaware County Judge Christine Fizzano Cannon and Pittsburgh lawyer Paul Lalley Democrats picked Philadelphia Judge Ellen Ceisler and Pittsburgh lawyer Irene McLaughlin Clark.
Philadelphia DA: Larry Krasner beat 6 other candidates to win the Democratic primary for Philadelphia DA. A civil rights lawyer, who defended Black Lives Matter and Occupy Philadelphia protester, benefitted from a $1.5 million donation from liberal billionaire George Soros.
Mayors: Incumbent mayors in Pittsburgh-- Bill Peduto, Allentown-- Ed Pawlowski, Harrisburg-- Erie Papenfuse and York-- Kim Bracey won their primaries.
