The Liquor Control Board Wednesday announced its unaudited operating results for the first half of fiscal year 2013-14.
PLCB wine and spirits sales totaled $949.6 million for the six-month period ending Dec. 31, 2013, a 3.4-percent increase over the same period in fiscal year 2012-13.
Both wine and spirits sales showed growth when compared to the same period in 2012-13. Wine sales increased by 3.4 percent, while spirits sales increased by 3.3 percent at Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores.
As a result of positive sales growth, the agency reported an interim net profit of $76.1 million, a 1.4-percent increase over last year, and remitted more than $236.5 million in sales and liquor tax to the commonwealth, an increase of $7.4 million over the first six months of 2012-13.
