Pennsylvania collected $2.3 billion in General Fund revenue in September, which was $151.8 million, or 6.1 percent, less than anticipated, Secretary of Revenue Daniel Meuser reported Monday. Fiscal year-to-date General Fund collections total $5.8 billion, which is $215 million, or 3.5 percent, below estimate.
Sales tax receipts totaled $714.9 million for September, $14.9 million below estimate. Year-to-date sales tax collections total $2.2 billion, which is $30.6 million, or 1.4 percent, less than anticipated.
Personal income tax revenue in September was $902.5 million, $42 million below estimate. This brings year-to-date PIT collections to $2.3 billion, which is $97.1 million, or 4 percent, below estimate.
September corporation tax revenue of $466 million was $92.9 million below estimate. Year-to-date corporation tax collections total $603.9 million, which is $89.5 million, or 12.9 percent, below estimate.
Inheritance tax revenue for the month was $64.7 million, $1.4 million below estimate, bringing the year-to-date total to $200.5 million, which is $6.5 million, or 3.1 percent, below estimate.
Realty transfer tax revenue was $26.5 million for September, $600,000 below estimate, bringing the fiscal-year total to $82.2 million, which is $5.1 million, or 5.9 percent, less than anticipated.
Other General Fund tax revenue, including cigarette, malt beverage, liquor and table games taxes, totaled $134.3 million for the month, $5.1 million above estimate and bringing the year-to-date total to $377.5 million, which is $7.3 million, or 2 percent, above estimate.
Non-tax revenue totaled $14 million for the month, $5.2 million below estimate, bringing the year-to-date total to $74.9 million, which is $6.5 million, or 9.5 percent, above estimate.
In addition to the General Fund collections, the Motor License Fund received $188.4 million for the month, $13.3 million below estimate. Fiscal year-to-date collections for the fund – which include the commonly known gas and diesel taxes, as well as other license, fine and fee revenues – total $617 million, which is $5.9 million, or 1 percent, above estimate.
